Why learning Lithuanian could be interesting and useful?

Lithuanian is the official language of Lithuania, spoken by about 3 million people. It is a member of the Baltic language family, along with Latvian and Estonian. Lithuanian is one of the oldest languages in the world, with evidence of its existence dating back to the 16th century.

Despite its relatively small number of speakers, Lithuanian has a number of interesting features that make it worth learning. For example, it is the only remaining Indo-European language with a realis mood (used for indicating factuality or reality), as well as having a large number of loanwords from Slavic languages. It is also known for its complex system of declensions, which can be challenging for learners but also very rewarding.

Overall, Lithuanian provides an interesting and unique linguistic experience that can be useful for anyone interested in learning more about the Baltic region or Indo-European languages in general.

Basic Lithuanian grammar rules you need

There are some basic grammar rules that you need to know in order to speak Lithuanian correctly. For example, Lithuanian has a unique way of forming the plural of nouns, which can be confusing for beginners.

To form the plural, you typically add an -i- to the end of the word. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. You also need to be careful with the gender of nouns, as this can affect the ending of adjectives and verbs.

There are three genders in Lithuanian: masculine, feminine and neuter. Finally, Lithuanian has a complex system of declension, which is the process of changing the form of a word to indicate its grammatical function. This can be tricky to master, but it's important to learn if you want to speak Lithuanian correctly.
